Dean of Human Development Guidelines and Regulations
SPIRITUAL
- Those individuals who participate in Visitation CYO sports and other activities are responsible for weekend Mass attendance.
- All student participants shall develop and exhibit, at all times, in and out of school, at CYO sponsored dances, as well as on and off the field of competition, a level of spirituality consistent with our CYO Code of Conduct, Guidelines and Regulations, Mission Statement, as well as common Christian decency. Attendance at Mass on Sundays and all Holy Days of Obligation is required. Sign-in sheets will no longer be used to measure compliance. Rather, a participant's desire to celebrate Mass with his or her family should assure attendance. Teams that have a game/event on Saturday or Sunday are encouraged to attend Mass together that morning.
- The Dean of Human Development and Director of Service shall establish, along with all coaches, a reasonable program of community service which shall be required of all participants. While perfection is not expected, candor and honesty shall be required at all times.
- The principal, parent representatives and teachers, as well as all Delegates to Human Development, shall have the authority to issue Delegate Reports for spiritual and behavioral misconduct which will be reviewed by the Dean of Human Development.
- All practice sessions, games and CYO events shall begin with a prayer led by the coach or a member of the team. This shall be a time of serious reflection consistent with the ultimate goals of CYO participation.

Additionally, any participant who fails to complete the CCD Program will be ineligible to participate in any CYO functions for the balance of that academic year and will remain ineligible to participate the following year unless eligibility is granted by the Dean of Human Development.
- Upon good cause shown to the Dean of Human Development, any student's eligibility and participation may be suspended and/or revoked if that student's spiritual development or behavior fails to comport with any spiritual standards including, but not limited to, the CYO Code of Conduct, Guidelines and Regulations, Mission Statement, as well as common Christian decency.
- In order to maintain the high standards of the spiritual phase of the Visitation CYO, all sports teams and activity groups are to refrain from participation in games, practices, or other related activities during the days of Forty Hours (September), Holy Thursday through Easter Sunday, and during any other special religious event designated by the Priest-Moderator.

Periodic updates will also be required as specified by the Dean of Human Development.

PARTICIPATION

- An important distinction exists between the Junior Varsity and Varsity segments of our program: the focus of the Junior Varsity segment of our program is instruction in a given sport/activity, while the focus of the Varsity segment is on competition and advancement of existing skills. Team participation must be seen in light of this distinction.
