COACHING AGREEMENT FOR THE VISITATION BVM CYO PROGRAMBy my signature below, I agree to and accept the requirements that are expected of all coaches of the Visitation BVM Catholic Youth Organization.
In particular, I agree:
- To conduct myself as a Catholic-Christian role model for the members of our CYO through my faithfulness to the teachings of the Roman Catholic Church; in particular, to participate in the celebration of the Mass each weekend; to acknowledge and accept the responsibility of providing good example to others, especially our youth, at all times;
- To follow the rules and expectations of the Visitation BVM CYO Program as specified in its Constitution & Bylaws, "Guidelines and Regulations," "Code of Conduct," and "Coaches Manual"; to support by word, example, and positive attitude the direction and the decisions of the Priest-Moderator and the Advisory Board;
- To have all assistant coaches approved by the Athletic Director and Varsity/Junior Varsity Coordinators and to accept responsibility for the behavior and actions of the assistant coaches;
- To represent the team (either personally or through an assistant coach) at all meetings of the Advisory Board during the coaching season; to attend the Coach's Meeting, the Parent Meeting, and any other meetings arranged by the CYO Advisory Board;
- To conduct try-outs in a manner that is totally unbiased; likewise, to choose award recipients in light of the established criteria and without favor or bias;
- To communicate with parents and participants in a way that provides positive reinforcement at all times;
- To refrain from all vulgar, abusive, and obscene language while in the presence of participants in our Program; to refrain from all use of tobacco products and inappropriate substances while in the presence of participants of our Program;
- To observe the calendar regarding the beginning and the end of the seasons and to respect designated days on which CYO activities are suspended; to recognize and accept that off-season/pre-season training is not permitted and could lead to disqualification of our teams on an Archdiocesan level (this includes coaching of off-seasons teams comprised on Visitation participants);
- To coordinate the schedule for practices and playing time with the Director of Scheduling and on the regional level, taking into consideration the parish and school calendar/schedule; to provide copies of the schedule to the Priest-Moderator, the Principal, the Athletic Director, the Varsity/Junior Varsity Coordinator, and the Ways and Means Chairperson before the first game; to observe the schedule faithfully once distributed with no changes unless approved by the Priest-Moderator, the Chief Adult Advisor, and the Athletic Director; to notify the Director of Scheduling and the Ways and Means Chairperson of any changes in the schedule;
- To begin and end all practices on time and with a prayer;
- To lead the team, within the course of the season, in at least one (1) service project as coordinated by the Director of Service;
- To accept responsibility for all facilities that are used and for equipment and uniforms as inventoried at the beginning of the seasons; to return all equipment and uniforms on the dates and at the locations as specified by the Equipment Managers; to make sure that the medical kit and ice chest provided by the CYO are available at all practices and games;
- To ensure that a completed insurance form is returned to the Priest-Moderator on behalf of any injured participants (student or adult);
- To arrange all purchases through the Equipment Managers;
- To seek the approval of the Advisory Board regarding any additional purchases (shirts/warm-ups, etc,) or before committing the team/CYO to any additional games, tournaments, or events outside of those originally scheduled for the regular season;
- To cooperate with the Team Parent in scheduling Snack Shack duties, lobby monitors, participation in the Parent's Survey, and other duties/expectations;
- To support and encourage participation in activities and fundraisers of our CYO Program;
- To keep track of all expenses (referee fees, etc.) and to return the expense log (and excess funds) at the time specified by the Athletic Director;
- To realize that my appointment is for the duration of one (1) season and that this appointment may or may not be renewed.
